CURRICULUM

We are a diligent school which follows teaching-models of international stature. At Canary High International School, Pune we offer the CBSE/ IB curriculum with a broad range of internationally recognized qualifications.  Our teachers offer personalized guidance and mentoring to our students. The teachers at CHIS undergo continuous training both face-to-face and online. Moreover, exposure to national and international seminars and conferences enables our teachers to stay updated on the marking schemes, examiners report, etc.

CANARY CUBS DAY CARE

We identify that the facility of a well-systematised day-care centre is the need of the hour – especially with the modern family structure where both the parents are working and have tight schedules. The Canary Cubs Day Care operates as a supporting atmosphere that cares for the child as their homes. Here, we offer a well-organized structure that facilitates physical growth and also lays the ground-work for better learning.

At our Day Care Centre, your toddlers are supervised by mature, dependable and coached members. The center is equipped with security monitoring by CCTV. We are available to provide assistance & services on long-term, short-term and emergency basis.

PRIMARY SECTION

Our Primary programme covers the core subjects of English, Math and Science, developing essential skills in literacy, numeracy and scientific enquiry. This programme also covers a good knowledge base, giving students a larger platform for growth and learning. We advocate a teaching approach based on positive achievement, which is brought out through a variety of strategies like group and individual work, games and imaginative play, and practical work led by the teacher’s guidance.

As per CIPP curriculum of CHIS Science as a subject is introduced at Stage 3/Grade 3, after the child achieves basic literacy and numeracy skills. To cover subject areas for Social Science like Community Living, Our Environment, and so on, we have developed a unique curriculum called VIBGYOR Concepts or ‘V Concepts’. The CHIS Concepts are an effective curriculum – at the primary level, this program helps in developing physical fitness and other basic developments that the child requires to usher inside this world.

SECONDARY SECTION

The Secondary Section At Canary High builds on the strategies of the
Primary Section. Our strategies have been structured based on Multiple Intelligences addressing different learning styles under one roof – from development of thinking skills to maximise independence to risk-taking for the creative bent-of-mind. We organise field trips and educational visits to provide industrial & practical exposure. Furthermore, the domestic and international trips organised by the school further offer an experiential learning opportunity to our young scholars.

CHIS Concepts is an effective curriculum, which develops knowledge, skills and understanding in three key areas:
(a) Our curriculum allows children to ask more questions, so as to enable them to grasp the skill of writing in their own words, like solving word problems in mathematics. They are enabled so that they can complete their homework on their own and are no longer afraid to speak fluently in English. Students who learn under the guidance of

such umbrella concepts persist longer in solving problems and score well on tests.
(b) We create a difference by integrating SPA (Sports & the Performing Arts) curriculum with in-classroom learning.
(c) We offer Sports and Performing Activites-Gymnastics, Basketball, Skating, Swimming, Speech and Drama , Dance.Third Thursday in every month is a bagless day to promote reading “Under Speaking Umbrella”.

The fundamentals of CHIS Concepts are further developed throughout the secondary level, where students gear up to learn diverse activities which put them in good stead for the future. Apart from these, every CHIS student avails the best in-house facilities curated especially for not just education but a development of their being and persona. These facilities include state-of-the-art arrangements such as the ICT Lab with supervised Internet connectivity, Science and Math labs, classrooms that are conducive to learning, well-equipped library that facilitates the international curriculum, interactive whiteboards and other audio-visual aids that further supplement classroom teaching.
